Army employs Mupopo

By STEPHEN PHIRI
THE Zambia Army has employed 400m runner Kabange Mupopo following her outstanding performance at the Senior African Championship in Morocco.
Mupopo minted a silver medal at the tournament in Morocco.
Army deputy commander Major General Topply Lubaya said they are proud of Mupopo’s achievement.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday by the Army public relations directorate, Lubaya said they expect all sportsmen and women in the system to apply themselves when representing the country in various competitions.
Mupopo is a member of the Green Buffaloes Athletics Club.
And presenting the silver medal to Lubaya, Mupopo expressed joy that the Army has recognised her hard work.
Mupopo said the gesture will make her work extra hard ahead of next month’s World Championship billed for Morocco.
She reached the semi-finals of the 400m at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Mupopo is also the national women’s soccer team skipper and was instrumental in guiding the She-polopolo to the 2014 Namibia Africa Women’s Championship finals.
