Always on hand to nurse

LUCIA De’ Oliveira Banda works as a critical care nurse at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.
From a young age, Ms Banda has always wanted to be a nurse.
“I always wanted to be nurse but when I completed my secondary education, my grandmother thought I was too young for nursing, she advised me to go for pre-school teaching first,” says Ms Banda, who was raised in Chipata and attended Hillside Primary and Secondary schools as well as Chipata Day Secondary School.
“After my secondary school, I was doing pre-school teaching at Chongololo Private School and later moved to Pilgrim Private School in Chipata after I underwent training at now Chipata City Council in 1991,” she says.
But after working as a pre-school teacher for some time, Ms Banda applied for Enrolled Nursing at Mwami School of Nursing in Chipata.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
