Accountant found with case to answer

THE Kitwe Magistrate’s Court has found an accountant and two travel agent consultants with a case to answer in a matter in which the trio is facing 12 counts of fraudulent false accounting and theft by servant.
The trio, Masautso Sibande, 30, of Nkana West in Kitwe, George Watema, 28, of Ndola and Liseli Musiwa, 29, of Kitwe pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
But when the matter came up for ruling before senior resident magistrate Daniel Musonda on Monday, the court was satisfied that the state had managed to establish a prima facie case against the accused persons in respect of all the counts.
However, the lawyer representing the trio asked the court to adjourn the case to enable him get further instructions of defence from his clients.
Magistrate Musonda adjourned the case to September this year for defence.
In a related case, two Kitwe entrepreneurs have pleaded not guilty to one count of obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretences.
This is in a case in which Roy Yube, 53, of Nkana East and Mubanga Mabuluki, 50, of Workers Compensation are jointly charged with the subject offence.
Particulars of the offence are that on dates unknown but between October and December, 2013, in Kitwe, the two allegedly obtained K119, 700 from Chimanga Kabwe, a debt they made themselves liable but evaded to pay back in full.
Magistrate Musonda adjourned the case to October 3, this year, for commencement of trial.
