NIGER 2 ZAMBIA 1

ZAMBIA on Tuesday night lost to Niger to drop to second position in Group E of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series, with coach Avram Grant upbeat about bouncing back to winning ways in future.

Grant said at a press briefing that there are six matches to be played and backed the Chipolopolo to find a winning formula.

“They (Niger) were fighting very hard, congratulations to them. We didn’t play our normal game and I think we deserved a draw but we didn’t get it because they scored two goals and we scored one,” he said.

“It is the first time the team is losing [a competitive match] under me and the most important thing is to recover. We will recover, there’re still many games to be played in this group.”

Grant said Zambia found it difficult to play the usual fast game.
