Sisters guilty of mocking woman’s barrenness

TWO Sisters of Desai Township were ordered by Matero Local Court to pay K1,500 each to a woman they insulted for celebrating the arrest of the son of one of them.

Margarete Phiri, 32, sued Diana Mushota, 43, and Ruth Mushota, 41, for insulting her and calling her barren. Phiri told the court that she has been in marriage for 14 years but has no child.

She said Diana and her sister Ruth took turns at insulting and mocking her after she allegedly celebrated the arrest of Diana’s son, who was part of a group called junkies.
