Medics, station handman, driver in court over COVID kit

TWO laboratory and biomedical technicians, a station handman and a driver at Chipata Level One Hospital have been taken to court for allegedly stealing COVID-19 kits worth over K2.8 million.
The suspects are Judith Dzekedzeke, 46, a biomedical laboratory technician, Malama Nkhata, 44, a driver, Langson Kampango, 54, a biomedical laboratory technician, and Hilton Kasanyika, 28, a station handman.
They are charged with theft by public servant contrary to section 272 and 277 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that between January 1, 2022 and March 30 last year, the quartet, being employed in the Ministry of Health in the stated capacities, stole COVID-19 kits worth K2,834,777.
