AWARD-WINNING singer Roberto has released a new song titled Contolola on which he has teamed up with Nigerian reggae-dancehall artiste Patoranking, known for hit songs My Woman, My Everything and Girlie ‘O’.
Roberto has had a stellar time with his song Amarurah, which earned some recognition in most of Africa, and by working with an established name on the continent such as Patoranking, he obviously wants to build on that.
It is not the first though that Roberto is working with Patoranking; in fact, he featured on the remix of Amarulah.
But Contolola, which means “control”, is a complete new project.
The song, which is already playing in both Zambia and Nigeria, was produced and directed by Brotherhood Music Studios where he works with his brother General Ozzy and a few other local artistes.
Roberto told the Weekend Mail in Lusaka said he and Patoranking have been in touch from the time he featured on the Amarulah remix.
“We had a chat the time he came to Zambia and we talked about doing another song together, after he listened to my music, he chose to feature on Contolola,” Roberto explained.
The song was recorded in two countries with Patoranking recording his part in Nigeria before sending it over to Zambia for mixing at Brotherhood Music Studios.
The song is set to feature on his Superstar album that he is expected to release on Africa Freedom Day. The album features Jay Rox, General Ozzy, the Brotherhood Crew Zambia, Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania, Jimmy Gassel from Mauritius and Patoranking, Reekado Banks, Dammy Krane from Nigera.
Born Robert Banda, Roberto is among the few Zambian artistes who have their videos showing on most satellite music channels such as Trace Africa, Channel O and MTV Base. Recently, he has been riding on the crest of the wave with the song I’m Into You.
