THERE are many cases of child marriages that take place in Nakonde district and other parts of Zambia without the knowledge of relevant authorities. This vice has forced many girls to drop out of school.

89 girls removed from early marriages in Nyimba


CLOSE to 90 young girls have been retrieved from marriages in Nyimba, Eastern Province. The girls, aged between 15 and 18, have been taken back to school by World Vision. World Vision Zambia Nyimba district area programmes manager Ignitius Muwifwidakule said 27 of the girls have been retrieved this year while the rest have been retrieved in the past three years.
