88-year-old risks going to jail

AN EIGHTY-EIGHT-YEAR-OLD drug trafficker of Kabwe risks spending the next 10 years of life in prison should the Kabwe High Court effect a custodial sentence on him for trafficking in 3.22 kilogrammes of marijuana.

Julio Kalumba, a second offender was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Commission on January 25, this year and on Wednesday the Kabwe Magistrate’s Court committed him to the High Court for sentencing.

The convict of Makululu township, was in 2015 at the age of 77, sentenced to three years imprisonment for trafficking in in 2.33 kilogrammes of marijuana.
The sentence was, however, suspended for two years and nine months.
