8 suspended in SCT probe

EIGHT officers at the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services have been suspended to pave way for investigations into the alleged misapplication of the social cash transfer money.
Permanent Secretary Liya Mutale said in an interview yesterday that the eight officials have been asked to stay away from work to “merely pave way for investigations”.
“They did not do anything [wrong]. It’s just for administrative purposes so that investigations are unhampered,” she said.
Dr Mutale said different investigative wings are doing an inquiry into the misapplication of the money, and that all the suspended officers are based at the ministry headquarters in Lusaka.
