OVER 7,000 civil servants risk being removed from the payroll by next month if their ministries do not confirm with Smart Zambia Institute that they are indeed government workers.
They could be regarded as ghost workers if the line ministries do not confirm that they are truly government employees.
This came to light yesterday when Smart Zambia Institute national coordinator Martine Mtonga appeared before the Public Accounts Committee chaired by Muchinga Member of Parliament Howard Kunda.
“We want to know who these people are. Otherwise, we will write to the Ministry of Finance to recommend their removal from the payroll by January next year,” he said.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
