A SEVENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD woman is unconscious at Mansa General Hospital in Luapula Province after she was allegedly raped by seven men.
The unknown men broke into the helpless woman’s house as she was fast asleep and took turns in raping her in the early hours of Thursday.
Mansa General Hospital public relations manager Smart Malama said in an interview yesterday that the institution received a victim of suspected rape on Thursday.
When contacted, Luapula Province commissioner of police Hudson Hamachila said his office had not yet received information about an old woman who was ruthlessly raped by seven men.
A check by the Daily Mail at the hospital yesterday found the woman in an unconscious state.
The victim’s elder sister, who was by the hospital bedside and declined to be identified, said the incident happened on Thursday around 02:00 hours.
She narrated that her sister was sleeping in her house when the seven suspected rapists broke in and took turns to rape her.
“We received information that my sister, who was at the time alone in the house, had been raped by seven men who ran away after raping her, and we found her unconscious,” she said.
She said the victim was later rushed to Mansa General Hospital, where she was admitted.
