6,000 education jobs frozen

pupils in class

OVER 6,000 jobs in the Ministry of General Education have been frozen countrywide due to ineffective human resource management.Teaching Service Commission chairperson Stanley Mhango said it is regrettable that the country is battling with a high teacher-pupil ratio when so many teaching jobs have been frozen.
Speaking during a meeting with civil servants here yesterday, Mr Mhango said there have been many illegal transfers of teachers facilitated by human resource officers who do not follow procedure.
This has resulted in an artificial shortage of teachers at some schools.
