$6.5 million emergency relief for refugees falls short of needs

CHOMBA MUSIKA, Lusaka
THE United Nations (UN) Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) has released US$6.5 million for responding to the refugee crisis in Zambia, but the money falls far short of the needs of the asylum seekers. By Friday, the number of asylum seekers from the Democratic Republic of Congo had hit 40,500.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) public information associate Kelvin Shimo said the money will be shared among UN agencies which will provide basic needs of refugees.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
