5 nabbed over copper theft

POLICE in Chingola are holding five people for allegedly being found with copper concentrates suspected to have been stolen.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the suspects were found with 20 bags of copper concentrates weighing about 33,900kgs without any valid documents.
Ms Katanga identified the suspects as Xig Zhzxin, 24, Yo Xhionpin, 26, Luckson Chabala, 32, Humphrey Mbulo, 29, and Herbert Toto.
And an unknown woman believed to be about 35 years old has died in a hit-and-run road traffic accident in Pemba.
Southern Province commissioner of police Godwin Phiri confirmed the development in a statement yesterday.
Mr Phiri said the accident happened on Tuesday around 23:00 hours.
