Chizongwe win Coca-Cola cup

CHIZONGWE yesterday played refined football whitewashing Chongwe to win the Copa Coca-Cola National Schools Championship title at Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka.
Cheered by Minister of Local Government and Housing Dr John Phiri, a former Chizongwe pupil, the Eastern Province representatives opened the scoring through John Mubanga on 23 minutes.
Mubanga benefited from a Tonny Ngoma pass and beat goalkeeper Joe Daka.
Ngoma doubled the lead with a header in the 48th minute and five minutes later, Mathews Goma made it 3-0.
Chizongwe put the match beyond reach on 80 minutes when Clement Makai netted the fourth for the Chipata-based school to win the first Coca-Cola trophy.
Chongwe got a consolation in the 85th minute when Stanley Banda pounced on a defensive lapse.
Chongwe thumped Chizongwe 6-1 in a Group A match last Wednesday.
Chizongwe pocketed K15,000 while Chongwe received K7,500.
In the third place play-off, Collins Pezulu contributed a goal while Godfrey Mung’omba netted a brace as Solwezi thrashed Kaoma 3-0.
Solwezi got K7,500.
