GOVERNMENT is training 309 agriculture camp officers in Eastern Province on how to use the new system that will be used under the electronic voucher system.
Eastern Province agricultural co-ordinator Roy Lumumba said in an interview recently that Government is training the camp officers in conjunction with Zambia Integrated Agriculture Management Information System (ZAMIAS).
Mr Lumumba said the move will help Government to create a database for farmers who will access the farm inputs in the 2017-2018 farming season.
Mr Lumumba said the camp officers are drawn from Chipata, Katete, Lundazi and Chadiza.
“We are conducting training for camp officers on electronic farmer registration so that we can have a database for easy distribution of farming inputs and other agricultural necessities,” Mr Lumumba.
Mr Lumumba said camp officers in the other six remaining districts will be trained when Government releases more funds.
He also said Government has refunded farmers who did not get their farm inputs through electronic voucher system last farming season.
