3 Nkana players lose boots

By STEPHEN PHIRI
NKANA on Tuesday night arrived in Abidjan for Saturday’s decisive  Confederation Cup Group B match against Sewe Sport with the luggage of three players missing.
Club treasurer Alex Munasha said in an interview from Abidjan yesterday that they suspect the bags remained in Johannesburg.
The affected players are skipper Sydney Kalume, defender Derrick Mwansa and striker Festus Mbewe.
“I suspect the bags were left behind after changing planes in Johannesburg. We used a small plane from Lusaka to Johannesburg and we jumped on a bigger plane from Johannesburg to Abidjan. We have informed the South African Airways authorities and they have promised to put the bags on the next flight to Ivory Coast,” Munasha said.
He said his executive will replace the items that are in the bags.
Munasha said the players are not affected by the situation.
“Morale is high in camp despite what has happened. We are looking forward to the match and we are here [Abidjan] to win,” he said.
Munasha also said they were received by Sewe Sport officials on Tuesday night.
Nkana are accommodated at Ivotel Hotel.
Coach Beston Chambeshi yesterday took his players for a morning workout.
Nkana need a draw to qualify for the semi-finals.
The Kitwe side have seven points, one behind Egyptian side Al Ahly while Sewe have six points.
Tunisian outfit Etoile du Sahel have five points.
The match will kick off at 17:00 hours.
