3 convicted of criminal trespass

TWO men and a juvenile, all of Mushili Township in Ndola, have been convicted of criminal trespass and cutting down a tree on the premises they encroached.
This is in a matter in which Promise Bwalya, 20, Angel Chishimba, 19, and the juvenile were found cutting down a tree in the VS Cargo Management Services Company premises in the industrial area in Ndola.
Magistrate Monica Mutinta convicted the trio after they all pleaded guilty to the charge and affirmed to the facts before court as being correct.
“Upon each one of you admitting the offence, I find you guilty as jointly charged and I accordingly convict you. But I will reserve sentencing in the matter to May 7. You will all be remanded in custody,” Ms Mutinta said.
Particulars are that on April 14 this year in Ndola, the three entered the VS Cargo company premises without authority with intent to steal.
The court heard that John Mulenga, a security guard at VS Cargo, saw the three cutting a tree within the company premises.
Mr Mulenga apprehended three with the help of some members of the public, and took them to Masala police station where they all admitted having committed the offence.
