GOVERNMENT plans to construct a 25 megawatts solar plant in Mumbwa in Central Province to cushion electricity challenges in the area.
Mumbwa District Commissioner Felix Ndopu says the solar plant will be funded by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
“We are just planning to set the date for the launch. I am very happy because this is a major project the district is going to have,” Mr Ndopu said.
He said the construction site has already been identified for the project, which will start this year.
He said the project, which is expected to be completed in 2019, will increase the supply of electricity in Mumbwa.
