THE construction of 20 low-cost houses in Mafinga district in Muchinga Province at a cost of K12 million is nearing completion.
Mafinga district commissioner Vivian Namwai said in an interview that the houses once completed, will accommodate various heads of department in the district.
Ms Namwai said the construction of 10 medium cost houses have already been completed and occupied.
She said the construction of houses will lessen accommodation challenges civil servants in Mafinga are currently grappling with.
Ms Namwai is happy with the massive development projects being undertaken in the district.
She said the declaration of Mafinga as a district has taken unprecedented development to the area.
“I am very happy to see the transformation that my district is undergoing through the ongoing development projects,” she said.
Ms Namwai said the district has seen the construction of district administration offices, houses for civil servants and the construction of a district hospital.
She said the construction of the facilities has elated Mafinga residents and that the facilities have helped accommodate civil servants within the district.
She said Government has shown commitment in delivering the promises it made to the people during the 2016 elections.
