2 Lusaka managers detained for assault

SYLVESTER CHISHIMBA, Lusaka
POLICE in Lusaka have arrested two managers of Arizona Transport for allegedly assaulting a driver who was reported to have carried unauthorised goods on a company truck.
Acting police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga told the Sunday Mail yesterday that Arson Mumba, 41, of house number 33/7 Chazanga township, was allegedly assaulted by Webster Mulamfu, 44, a resident of Kanyama township, and Enock Nsofu, 22, of house number 20, Roan Road, in Lusaka’s Kabulonga suburb.
Mr Hamoonga said Mulamfu, a senior security officer, and Nsofu, an operations manager at the transportation company, were arrested yesterday morning for allegedly beating up Mr Mumba at Arizona offices, following reports that he had transported unauthorised goods.
“It is alleged that Mumba, going against company ethics, had carried planks all the way from Copperbelt Province and offloaded them at Buseko Market and people reported him to the company after having spotted him,” he said.
Mr Hamoonga said Mulamfu and Nsofu are currently in police custody and will appear in court on Monday.
