CHRISTINE CHIHAME, Mansa
OVER 15 families in two villages in Milenge district in Luapula Province have been left homeless after their houses collapsed because of heavy rains.
Milenge district commissioner James Nyenjele said the heavy rains which lasted almost six hours on Saturday left the families in the cold.
Mr Nyenjele named the affected villages as Tai and Lunga.
“About 18 families in my district have been left in the cold after their houses collapsed due to heavy rains,” he said.
Mr Nyenjele said no life had been lost as the affected families managed to seek shelter at nearby homes.
He said the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) had been informed and had urgently managed to provide 10 tents to the affected families.
