I wish to commend Green Eagles Football Club for making history to become the first club in southern Africa to play in the CAF inter-club competitions for the first time ever.
Eagles saw off champions ZESCO United 1-0 in Choma on Saturday to seal one of the four spots for Zambian teams.
The win climaxed their impressive run in the 2018 season. Playing in CAF next season will be a reward for the club, which was consistent throughout the season, and the win on Saturday did not come as a surprise.
Beyond history, Eagles should work very hard in their maiden appearance in Africa and avoid exiting early.
Eagles, now confirmed as one of the big boys in the elite league, join Zesco United, Nkana and Green Buffaloes in hoisting the country’s flag in 2019.
Congratulations Eagles, executive, supporters and, above all, Zambia National Service command for believing in the team.
