CHRISTINE CHIHAME, Mansa
GOVERNMENT has released US$1.5 million for the construction of a modern medical storage facility in Mansa district in Luapula Province.
Provincial health director Peter Bwalya said in an interview that Government has engaged Wang Kong’a Chinese contractor to carry out works on the project.
Dr Bwalya said the construction process of the new medical storage facility will create a number of job opportunities for the local people.
He said the project is expected to be completed in December this year.
“Government has released US$1.52 million to construct a modern medical stores hub and it will be completed in December this year”, Dr Bwalya said.
Dr Bwalya said once completed, all medical and non-medical supplies for Luapula Province will be stored in the storage facility before being distributed to various districts in the province.
He said building of the medical stores hub has come at a right time when Government is delivering quality health facilities and health care services closer to the people through its transformation agenda and infrastructural expansion.
Dr Bwalya urged the contractor to ensure works are done within the stipulated time frame so that the facility can start serving its purpose of establishment.
